People of Blockchain: Ibrahim Halkano

Name and current occupation: Dr Ibrahim Halkano, CEO Uhuru Instapay Network Ltd

Describe your current activity: ICO Advisory, Blockchain Micro payment Strategist, Mobile Financial Services Adoption and Usage to increase Financial Inclusion and Reduce Poverty

When did you first hear about Bitcoin/blockchain and how?

I have been a technology enthusiast for the past 15 years, i regularly follow up technology advancements, i heard about bitcoin in 2008 and been following its development since, i was trained and certified on Block chain in 2017

What was the first crypto-related activity you did?

Trading, Mining and the ICO Advising

What was the last non-blockchain related job/occupation you had?

Director of Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning System

What made you migrate to the blockchain professional environment?

The ground is shifting quite fast,if you follow technology advancement you will soon be obsolete, thus in our industry one must always learn, adopt and use new technologies. Block chain is a natural progression as the future processes and systems will be built on block chain or better iterations of block chain

How do you see your role in blockchain and crypto? How do you think you can influence the industry?

I am interested in development of micro payment systems on block chain that will enable low value transactions 0.0001 cent$ and high volume of transactions

How do you see the actual situation with ICOs? Do you believe they should be regulated?

Regulation is good as it will reduce scams or fraud but the bureaucracy and the red-tapes that limit entry for small startups should also be checked. If rules of play can be defined to ensure that the best of both regulated and unregulated world can be retained, this could result in the best outcome for fundraising in future

From your point of view, what are the main challenges of blockchain at the moment?

The hype is ballooning attracting along with it fraudsters, the low uptake of use cases by industry players as well as lack of regulation are the main setbacks of block chain. There also obvious technology inadequacies such as speed of transactions, intense energy consumption as well as harmonization of all these mushrooming platforms.

How do you see the future of blockchain? How will it evolve? Where do you think we will be in ten years’ time? Do you see crypto as some kind of universal payment system? Do you think that bitcoin will still be king, etc?

I see the world running on a single currency where all transactions will be done on smart devices in a completely decentralized environment where trust is guaranteed by the technologies. Block chain is set to evolve and its adoption and usage to significantly increase in the next few years, regulations will soon be implemented across the world and a level playing field put in place for all the players in this space
